ISLAMABAD, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Two Al-Qaeda linked commanders were killed in the U.S. drone strike that targeted a militants' safe haven in Pakistan's northwest tribal area last night, local media reported on Saturday.

Quoting unidentified military sources, local TV channel Dawn reported on Saturday that the U.S. drones that pounded a house at the border area of North and South Waziristan agency killed seven people including two Al-Qaeda linked commanders.

The killed leaders were Abu Majid-al-Iraqi and a Yemen national Sheikh Abu Waqas, said the report.

Sheikh Abu Waqas was a bomb and explosives expert, and he was having a very distinguished position in the group.

Last night, the U.S. drones targeted a house in the Babar Ghar village that lies at the border of North Waziristan and South Waziristan, Pakistan's two volatile tribal regions bordering Afghanistan.
