KABUL, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Up to four armed Taliban insurgents have been killed and 10 others detained in different operations within the last 24 hours, the Afghan Interior Ministry confirmed on Sunday.
During the operations, carried out by Afghan police supporting by army and the NATO-led coalition forces in eastern Kabul and western Herat province, the joint forces also found weapons, the statement added.
The Taliban insurgent group, which has been waging an insurgency of more than one decade, has yet to make comments.
Afghan forces and some 100,000 NATO-led coalition troops have intensified cleanup operations against Taliban and other militant groups recently but the insurgents responded by carrying out armed attacks and roadside bombings.
On Saturday, four members of a family and a driver were killed when a vehicle touched off a roadside planted bomb in southern Helmand province.
