WELLINGTON, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Pacific island nation of Tonga suffered a series of drubbings in the New Zealand round of the international rugby sevens world series in Wellington Friday.
Tonga went down to all three rivals in Pool B, emerging with three points at the end of the first day of the two-day tournament.
Tonga fell 21-12 to Argentina, got crushed by France 33-7 and lost to Kenya 17-10.
Group winner Kenya will face second placed team from Pool C when Tonga go on to play the third placed team on Saturday.
In Pool C, Samoa came out top after three wins.
Samoa beat South Africa 19-10, defeated Wales 19-12 and dismantled Canada 26-12 in Pool C, emerging with nine points at the end of the first day of the two-day tournament.
Samoa will go on to play Argentina in their first match in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
