SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- One was killed and four were wounded after hydrofluoric acid leaked at a chip plant of Samsung Electronics, the world's largest maker of memory chips.
"A small amount of diluted hydrofluoric acid leaked early Monday morning during maintenance at one of the gas and chemical supply systems at the Hwaseong site," Samsung said in an e-mailed statement on Monday. The Hwaseong plant located south of Seoul.
Samsun said five contract workers at the scene were sent to hospital for treatment, noting that four of them have been discharged, while one worker died due to complications. It added that production was not affected by the incident, saying that the situation has been contained.
