KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Trains from Malaysia going to Singapore are canceled on Saturday after a train derailed and four of its cars overturned, injuring at least seven passengers and a crew member.

Police said the 10-car train with 117 passengers onboard had derailed as it was passing a forest near the Singapore border in the afternoon after five cars came unhooked from the train.

Witnesses told reporters that some passengers were trapped in the front several cars for an hour without air conditioning after the accident.

Tourists from several countries including South Korea were on the train during the accident but police did not say if they were among the injured.

Police were still searching if there were more victims trapped in the derailed cars as operator KTM railway canceled trains for the day and offered ticket refunds.
