KABUL, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- A powerful blast rocked Afghan capital Kabul on Wednesday, casualties feared, a security official said.
Presumably it was a suicide car bomb and targeted a government department in Tarabaz Khan area in downtown Kabul the New City, the official added but declined to give his name, saying authorized officials would brief the media. It has merit to mention that the New City is a crowded business center.
The official also asserted that the blast took place close to a compound of intelligence agency and the Interior Ministry building.
Meantime, Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi confirmed the incident but said it is too early to provide details.
