TEHRAN, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Iran's First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi said Tuesday that the Syrian nation will eventually triumph over what he called "foreign plots" against the Arab state, Press TV reported.
After overcoming all the problems and crises, Syria will emerge stronger and more powerful than before, Rahimi was quoted as saying.
Making the remarks in a meeting with visiting Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi in Tehran on Tuesday, he said that Iran supports any plan that aims to end the conflict and protects the integrity of Syria.
For his part, the Syrian official praised Iran's support for Syria in the time of crisis and called for more cooperation between the two nations in different sectors.
Al-Halqi arrived in Iran's capital Tehran on Tuesday to exchange views with Iranian officials on matters of mutual interest as well as regional and international issues, Press TV reported.
During his two-day visit to Iran, the Syrian prime minister will meet with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Majlis ( parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani and other high-ranking officials.
