CAIRO, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian prosecution questioned Saturday ex-President Hosni Mubarak over gifts worth over 1 million U.S. dollars he allegedly received every year from state- run Al-Ahram newspaper from 2006 to 2011, official news agency MENA reported.

The prosecution will also form a committee to investigate the gifts Mubarak might have got from Al-Ahram from 1984 to 2006, according to the report.

Mubarak, who is currently serving life imprisonment for ordering killing of protesters in 2011 unrest, has recently been transferred from the prison hospital to a nearby military hospital due to deteriorating health condition.

Egypt's Court of Cassation will rule Sunday on an appeal submitted by the ex-president.
