BEIRUT, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghadanfar Roknabadi said Sunday that "military clashes in Syria have reached a deadlock," calling for focusing on the Iranian initiative to solve the crisis in Syria.
According to a statement released by the Lebanese Democratic Party, Roknabadi briefed head of the party Talal Arslan over Tehran's initiative to salvage the Syrian government.
Roknabadi said that the initiative was agreed upon "during the first national dialogue conference hosted by Iran and gathered the Syrian opposition and the ruling party in Syria."
He expressed hope that "the initiative contains many common points with the initiative of Lakhdar Brahimi," who is the UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria.
Roknabadi said "the purpose now is to bring Syrian and Lebanese belligerents to the negotiating table in order to focus all attention on combating the Zionist enemy."
Meanwhile, he renewed Tehran's unconditional support for " Hezbollah and all the Lebanese at all times."
