ISLAMABAD, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed in a U.S. drone strike launched in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan on Thursday morning, reported local media.

According to reports of Dunya, U.S. unmanned aircraft fired three missiles at a vehicle suspected of carrying militants in the Mubarak Shahi village near Mir Ali, main town of North Waziristan, leaving three people killed, possibly including an important Taliban commander.

As people rushed to the strike site trying to recover the bodies from the vehicle, another strike was launched, leaving one killed on the spot and many others wounded, said the report.

Details about the identities of the killed are not known immediately.

This is the second U.S. drone strike in Pakistan on Thursday. Earlier in the wee hours of morning, U.S. drones fired four missiles at a house suspected of being a militant hideout in the neighboring tribal area of South Waziristan, leaving at least five people killed.
