BANGKOK, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The fire at a Toyota factory near Bangkok caused an estimated 50 million baht (about 1.7 million) damage, but will not affect production, the company said on Monday.
Hirunruangrong, senior president of Toyota Motor Thailand, told the Bangkok Post that the explosion and ensuing blaze burnt down a factory warehouse for storing engine oil, a pallet used for oil transportation and 10 forklifts.
The amount of oil lost in the accident was equivalent to a daily delivery, he said.
Earlier reports put the loss at 100 million baht (about 3.4 million U.S. dollars).
Toyota has send staff out to inform people living nearby of the situation and will hear any complaints about problems, said Pairoj.
He added that the incident does not affect production at the factory or its transportation of car parts to retailers. The factory remains in operation.
