BENGHAZI, Libya, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of Libyan citizens demonstrated Friday in the eastern city of Benghazi, demanding for applying the federal system as part of the constitution.
The demonstration, which took place in front of the Tibisti hotel in the city center, was organized by political activists and a number of social society organizations to demand enforcing the federal system to be part of the constitution that is being prepared to rule the country.
The demonstrators also called to move some major companies back to Benghazi from the country's capital Tripoli to avoid " centralism."
Moataz Algayar, one of the demonstrators, said, "I think that the federal system is the only solution for the country in which every city can decide their own budget and have their offices and companies based in the city instead of travelling more than 1,000 km to Tripoli just to sign a paper to get my payment at work."
