KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Six civilians were killed as a roadside bomb struck a civilian car in Marouf district of the Taliban former stronghold, the southern Kandahar province, 450 km south of capital city Kabul on Wednesday evening, provincial administration spokesman Jawed Faisal said Thursday.

"The tragic and deadly incident happened Wednesday evening in Sang village of Marouf district, as a result six people including two women, three children and a man were martyred," Faisal told Xinhua.

Since the site of incident is a far-flanged area it was difficult to get information in its earliest, he added.

He also put the attack on the enemies of peace, a term used against Taliban militants by government officials. However, the outfit fighting the government has yet to comment.

In a similar incident on Wednesday in Musa Qala district of the neighboring Helmand province eight people including seven women were killed and two others injured, Interior Ministry confirmed.
