KABUL, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Two NATO soldiers were killed Wednesday in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan, which is confirmed by the coalition forces.

"Two International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) service members died following an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan today," the NATO-led coalition or ISAF said in a press release.

The brief press release did not mention the nationalities of the victims and details about the incident under the ISAF policy.

Troops mostly from U.S., Britain and Australia have been serving in southern Afghanistan.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since the militant group launched the annual spring offensive on May 3 against Afghan government and about 100,000 NATO-led troops.

Up to 360 foreign troops have lost their lives in Afghanistan in 2012.
