TOKYO, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Japan's Justice Minister Keishu Tanaka, who was under fire for his past ties with an organized crime syndicate, submitted his resignation Tuesday, one day after he was discharged from hospital for checkups of a chest pain, local media NHK reported.
Reports said that Tanaka has resigned after only three weeks in office. He had been at the center of allegations that he had accepted political funds and attended a gangster's wedding.
The resignation is seen as another blow to Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda's administration, who was being pushed hard to call elections that his party could lose.
