ANKARA, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Wednesday that Turkey supported the call of the UN- Arab League (AL) joint special envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi for a temporary cease-fire in Syria in the upcoming Muslim holiday of Eid Al-Adha.
Davutoglu made the remarks at a joint press conference with visiting Bosnia-Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija after their official talks held in the Turkish capital of Ankara.
Davutoglu said Iran also expressed its support to the proposal, stating that Secretary General of the AL Nabil el-Arabi also backed it.
Therefore, Turkey, the AL and Iran expressed their support to the proposal of Brahimi, he said, adding that "I hope that all parties will reach consensus over this temporary cease-fire during the Feast of Sacrifice."
In the coming days, maybe on Friday, all relevant countries would make separate but simultaneous statements supporting the proposal, he said.
