KABUL, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- A blast rocked Qalat city, the provincial capital of southern Afghan province of Zabul Saturday morning, local media Tolo News reported.
"The explosion, obviously targeting a security forces convoy, took place near a school in Qalat at around 9:30 a.m. local time, wounding several people," said the report, without giving more details.
Meantime, a spokesman for the provincial government, Sharif Nasir, told Xinhua that an explosive device placed in a garbage box was exploded, causing no injuries in the city 340 km south of capital Kabul.
Violence has been on the rise since Taliban launched an annual spring offensive on May 3. Afghans are war-weary people and any big bang cause panic among them.
Two security forces were killed and 15 people were wounded in a Taliban suicide car bombing in neighbouring Helmand province on Wednesday.
