ANKARA, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The UN-Arab League joint special representative for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, will pay a visit to Turkey amid tensions high across the Syrian-Turkish border, a Turkish official said.
Brahimi will be on a regional trip to continue international efforts seeking a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
The exact date of the visit has not scheduled yet, the Turkish official said, requesting anonymity.
But he said the envoy will arrive in Turkey before Russian President Vladimir Putin pays a visit to the country later this month.
Syria is expected to be high on the agenda of the Russian leader's visit as well.
Turkey and Syria have been trading artillery fire for six days in the border region, raising fears that the crisis in Syria could lead to a regional conflict.
