KHARTOUM, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- A number of civilians might have been killed or injured after unidentified gunmen on Monday fired mortar shells on Kadogli city, capital of Sudan's South Kordofan State, Sudan's Ashrouq Net reported.
The report said that a number of civilians were killed and some others injured, without specifying exact numbers.
The number of fired mortars were initially estimated at about nine, and the local authorities are still trying to make a final count.
South Kordofan State has been witnessing armed clashes between the Sudanese army and Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM)/ northern sector since last year.
