KANO, Nigeria, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- At least 96 suspected criminals have been arrested by Nigerian police in Kano State in the northwest of the West African country.
State police spokesperson Magaji Majiya disclosed this to reporters in Kano, the state capital on Tuesday, saying that the suspects were arrested on Sept. 26 during a raid at various black spots, criminal hideouts and uncompleted structures in the Kano metropolis.
This raid was successfully conducted, based on timely information from good members of the community, he added.
Items recovered during the raid are one AK 47 rifle, six cutlasses, two dane guns, three locally made pistols and house- breaking implements.
Others are clubs, one hand-made weapon, six parcels and 100 wraps of Indian hemp, 100 bottles of suck-and-die rubber solution, six swords, two tiger generators and two laptops.
