YEREVAN, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Armenia's minimum wage would be raised 7.5 percent next year, Finance Minister Vache Gabrielyan said Thursday.
Starting from January, the minimum monthly pay will be increased from AMD 32,500 (about 80 U.S. dollars) to AMD 32,500 (86 dollars).
The government said it aimed to double the minimum wage during the 2012-2017 period.
Official statistics put the country's average monthly salary at about 300 U.S. dollars in 2011. The mimimum wage has been raised twice in the past four years.
