Bypassing UN Charter causes destabilization: Putin

MOSCOW, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Attempts to use force in violation of the UN Charter would be a source of instability, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday.

Attempts to substitute the universal UN Charter principles with unilateral actions, bloc agreements or the use of force would only lead to chaos, Putin told a gathering of foreign ambassadors.

Speaking as world leaders meet in New York for the 67th General Assembly of the UN, Putin said the event should be taken as an opportunity to remind the public about the UN Charter values, just world order, respect for sovereignty and equality of all nations.

"These principles are aimed at solving any problem without outside interference via negotiations," Putin said, adding the supremacy of law must be guaranteed in international as well as domestic affairs.

Russia would do its best as a major world power to support positive developments in the global politics and economy and continue its open foreign policy, Putin said.
