MOGADISHU, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Twin explosions rock area outside hotel on Wednesday where the new Somali president-elect lives, police sources said.
The new Somalia president Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud was meeting with top Kenya delegation at the time when the explosions were heard.
Mohamoud was elected on Monday by parliamentary members, beating incumbent president Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in a 190 to 79 vote.

MOGADISHU, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The election of new Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud on Monday has been recieved as the start of a fresh chapter in the country's history by residents of the capital Mogadishu as well as members of the international community.
President-elect Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud won the presidency with an overwhelming majority of the votes defeating outgoing president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed who received 79 votes against 190 for the country's new leader.
The civic activist and academic is seen as new breed of leaders coming to power in the war ravaged Horn of Africa nation following the similar landslide victory for the new speaker of the Somali parliament Mohamed Osman Jawari. Full story
