FRANKFURT, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The European Central Bank (ECB) said on Thursday that its key interest rates will remain unchanged as a result of the regular monthly monetary meeting here.
The Governing Council of the ECB decided that the interest rate on the main refinancing operations and the interest rates on the marginal lending facility and the deposit facility will remain unchanged at 0.75 percent, 1.50 percent and 0.00 percent respectively, said a statement issued on its website.
ECB President Mario Draghi will address a news conference on Thursday afternoon, commenting on the considerations underlying the decisions and hopefully offering details of a new bond purchase program.
Draghi announced on Aug. 2 that the ECB would initiate a program to buy euro area government bonds to bring down the borrowing costs. The news conference on Thursday has drawn wide attentions as people are waiting on the details of the program.
