TUNIS, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Mauritania has extradited Libya's former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senoussi to Libya, the official Tunisian TAP press agency reported Wednesday.
The news was briefly broadcast on Mauritanian television Wednesday morning without further comment, TAP said.
Al-Senoussi fled to Mauritania and was arrested there in March for illegally entering the country.
In 2011, the International Criminal Court issued warrants against Libya's then leader Muammar Gaddafi, his son Saif Islam and al-Senoussi on charges of crimes against humanity in cracking down on anti-Gaddafi protests.
Mauritania's President Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz recently said that the former Libyan official must be judged in Mauritania before being extradited.
