QALAT, Afghanistan, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The police chief of Shamozai district in Helmand province 555 km south of capital Kabul was killed as a roadside bomb struck his vehicle on Wednesday.
"The incident happened at around noon when a mine planted by militants struck the vehicle of Shah Khan the police chief of Shamonzai district killing him along with two of his bodyguards on the spot," deputy to provincial governor Mohammad Jan Rasoulyar told Xinhua.
He blamed Taliban militants for organizing the attack. However the outfit has yet to comment.
