NAIROBI, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Top Venezuelan diplomat attached to Kenya was found murdered in her house on Friday in unclear circumstances.
Nairobi regional police commander Anthony Kibuchi confirmed that Charge de Affaires Olga Fonseca was found strangled in her upmarket Runda residential estate in Nairobi.
"The police can confirm that the diplomat was strangled dead this morning and the body was found lying at the house. We have launched investigations to establish the circumstances leading to the death," Kibuchi said in Nairobi.
The regional police commander said four domestic workers who were recently sacked amid allegations of sexual harassment are being held for questioning in connection with the death.
The incident came barely a week after Fonseca sacked some domestic workers at the ambassador's residence who had accused Ambassador Gerardo Carillo Silva of sexual harassment.
The Venezuelan government recalled Silva recently and appointed Fonseca to replace him.
Kenya's ministry of foreign affairs has launched its independent investigation into the alleged sexual harassment.
