SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna Thursday praised Islamabad for its changing approach towards New Delhi and said both countries should realize "acrimonious debates" can not yield anything.

"It is important for India and Pakistan to realize that we don' t gain anything from the conduct of acrimonious debates but everything is to be gained if we can be more realistic and appreciative of each other's intents," Krishna said in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

Krishna was in Srinagar to lay foundation stone of region's passport office and to inaugurate a passport help center.

Krishna also appreciated Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar for her candid approach during her visit to New Delhi last year.

Krishna said Khar conveyed them there is "change in mindset of Pakistan" towards relationship with India.

"She did not repeat it in meeting only but before media as well, " Krishna said.
