ALMATY, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian consulate in the Kazakh city of Almaty has been attacked with molotov cocktails, severely damaging the building, according to a local television report Tuesday.
The report did not say when the fire occurred but said the second and the third floors were totally burned out and documents in the consul general's office on the third floor had been completely destroyed.
Consulate staff said they believed the fire bomb attack was related to the current crisis in Syria.
The consulate is the only diplomatic mission representing the Syrian government in Kazakhstan.
The TV report said local police were investigating the attack and seeking to identify the arsonists.
