Suicide bombing kills at least 20 in Yemen's capital

SANAA, July 11 (Xinhua) -- A suicide bomber blew himself up among a crowd in front of a Yemeni police academy in the capital of Sanaa on Wednesday, a security official told Xinhua.

"More than 20 students of the police academy were killed, dozens of others wounded," the official said on condition of anonymity.

Another police source told Xinhua that the attack was carried by "a car bomb in front of the main gate of the police academy while the students were going out."

SANAA, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The Yemeni-based al-Qaida wing claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing attack outside a police academy in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa on Wednesday, which has killed at least 20 people.

"We claim responsibility for the bombing against the police academy in Sanaa," the terrorist group said in a text message obtained by Xinhua without giving further details.  Full story
