TBILISI, April 21 (Xinhua) -- A senior Georgian government official on Saturday described the arrival of U.S. property tycoon Donald Trump as a "green light" for all investors to try the South Caucasus country.

Georgian Economy Minister Vera Kobalia, who welcomed Trump at Tbilisi International Airport, said the construction of the Trump Tower building in the Georgian Black Sea resort of Batumi would help promote development of the economy not only in the Adjara region but throughout the country.

Though among the most famous faces in international business circles, Trump seldom invests internationally. As a rule, he invests in American business, according to the minister.

Trump is scheduled to take part in the presentation of the Trump Tower project in Batumi on Sunday.

An agreement on cooperation between the American billionaire and the Silk Road Group was reached during Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's visit to the United States in March 2011.

At the airport, Trump told local media the Batumi tower building project was very important.
