KANO, Nigeria, April 19 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank has expressed concern over the slow pace of the malaria project it is sponsoring in Nigeria's north-central Kano State, calling for a speedy implementation of the program.
Leader of the team on Malaria Control Program Mariam Olayide expressed disappointment on the slow pace of the project implementation on Wednesday.
Heading the delegation on a visit to the state's commissioner of health, Abubakar Labaran, she warned that if the situation was not reversed in good time, it could draw back the successes so far recorded in malaria control and adversely affect the nation's malaria control efforts.
Olayide stressed the need for the initiation of more proactive measures to ensure the program's success, while seeking the state government's commitment to ensuring the success of the malaria control program.
