ULAN BATOR, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) on Friday afternoon organized a demonstration demanding the release of former President and party leader Nambar Enkhbayar.

Over 1,000 MPRP members and Enkhbayar's supporters took part in the demonstration. Organizers said that should Enkhbayar not be freed within 24 hours, the party would take new measures for protest.

Enkhbayar was arrested by police force at the request of Mongolia's anti-corruption agency. He was suspected of involvement in corruption.

During the 2000s, Enkhbayar became the first politician in the country who had held the offices of president, prime minister and speaker of parliament.
