COLOMBO, Feb. 16 (Xinhua)-- Fishermen in Sri Lanka's coastal town of Chilaw took to the streets for the fourth consecutive day demanding justice for a fisherman who died during clashes with the police, an official said on Thursday.
The fishermen demanded government action against police who fired at unarmed protestors on Wednesday in Chilaw, about 73 km from capital Colombo.
One fisherman was shot dead while four others were injured.
Relief subsidies have been given to victims of the clash.
Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said that curfew was imposed after the confrontation and a large contingent of army and armored vehicles had been deployed in the area to keep peace.
