THE HAGUE, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The suspect of a bomb threat at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport was captured after he surrendered around 1:00 p.m. on Monday, a spokesman of the Marechaussee, the Dutch military police, confirmed to Xinhua.

The Marechaussee could not confirm whether the suspect was actually carrying a bomb with him. The investigation is ongoing and his baggage is examined.

At around 11:00 a.m. on Monday morning the military police received a telephonic notification of a bomb threat. The Marechaussee immediately decided to evacuate terminals 1 and 2, the part before the passport control, to secure the safety of the passengers.

A man claiming to have a bomb in his possession locked himself up on a toilet of the Meeting Plaza, where he eventually was arrested. The evacuation will be lifted once the situation has been declared completely safe.

Terminals 3 and 4 remained open during the operation. There was no panic, but some flights were delayed.
