MOSCOW, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Liberal Democratic Party of Russia on Tuesday nominated leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky as its candidate for the March 4 presidential election
The LDPR congress approved Zhirinovsky's nomination on a 169-9 vote.
The campaign will be Zhirinovsky's fifth out of six presidential elections in Russia since the collapse of the former Soviet Union.
So far, all the leaders of Russia's four main parties, including the ruling United Russia, the Communist Party, A Just Russia and the LDPR, have been nominated as the presidential hopefuls.
In addition, billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov announced Monday he would run in the election as an independent.
Russian tycoon to run for president in 2012
