BEIJING, Oct. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- In the last leg of her two-day trip in China, German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited a Chinese university in Anhui on Friday, to promote China-Germany youth exchange.
Merkel was met at the university campus by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang with warm welcome from crowds of cheering students. It's the first time that Li has ever invited a foreign leader to visit Anhui, his home province.
Merkel also stopped by the village of Shen Fu, where she learned about China's rural poverty alleviation efforts. Later in the day, both leaders attended a meeting of the Sino-German Economic Advisory Committee. Merkel's visit aims to promote trade partnership and mutual trust between the two nations.
