BEIJING, Oct 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Clashes erupted on Thursday morning between Israeli troops and Palestinians in the West Bank city of Hebron, as a five-week wave of violence continued.
The clashes took place shortly after a Palestinian stabbed an Israeli soldier in the head, and forces nearby shot and killed him.
The soldier was lightly wounded. Thursday's stabbing incident took place near a disputed shrine in Hebron known to Jews as the Cave of the Patriarchs.
Police have set up roadblocks in Palestinian neighbourhoods that were home to many of the alleged assailants.
At least 62 Palestinians and eleven Israelis have been killed since the outbreak of violence began on October 1st.
The worst conflict since the 2014 Gaza war has in part been spurred by religious and political tensions over a Jerusalem site sacred to both Muslims and Jews.
