BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- This autumn sees frequent visits between China and European leaders. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is to visit China this Thursday and Friday. And French President Francois Hollande is scheduled to visit China next week.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit to China is very important, as the country is China's biggest trade partner in Europe. Bilateral trade volume hit 162 billion US dollars in 2013, and last year the number hit a new height of 180 billion. Germany is also an important source of technology imports. Currently about forty percent of China's technology imports from Europe come from Germany.

Among them, industrial technology is the most important one. China has launched strategies such as Industry 4.0 and Made in China 2025 aimed at upgrading industry and boosting productivity. China has a lot to learn from Germany, which is a world leader in industrial production.

The president of Europe's second largest economy is also scheduled to visit China in early November. Francois Hollande is expected to discuss carbon emission reductions with his Chinese counterpart, laying ground work for the upcoming COP21 United Nations climate conference in Paris this December.

China plans to launch an emission-trading scheme nationwide by 2017. The scheme will cover industries such as steel, electricity, chemical engineering, construction material and paper making etc. This will make China an active player in global green transformation.
