BEIJING, Oct.26 (Xinhuanet) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel is set to pay an official visit to China this week. Germany is Beijing's number-one trading partner in the EU; bilateral trade reached 150 billion euros last year. China is now the second-largest market for German exports outside the EU.
German expert on international affairs Michael Borchmann is impressed by the strong economic links between the two states.
"I think the Chinese and Germans have a lot in common. What they can do together there is German high tech, for example, and Chinese wish to change to a high technology industry . I guess it's fits together very much; I guess we have a brilliant future, and even also on the field of made in China 2025, our industry 4.0, digitalization, robots, and so on. So I guess we can do a lot in common," Borchmann said.
