BEIJING, Oct. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- A woman and two children have drowned after an inflatable dinghy carrying 63 migrants hit rocks off the Greek island of Lesbos.
One of the bodies found by rescuers was that of a young boy. According to Greek authorities, seven people were still missing but the rest managed to reach safely. Their nationalities are not immediately clear.
Meanwhile, the bodies of 14 dead migrants were recovered from the Libyan coast by the Red Crescent Organisation. They were found about 100 kilometres east of Tripoli, and appeared to be mostly sub-Saharan Africans.
According to the International Organisation for Migration, as many as 700 thousand refugees are predicted to reach Europe by the end of this year, with thousands more losing their lives crossing the Mediterranean.
