BEIJING, Oct.25 (Xinhuanet) -- This week, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a 5-day trip to the UK. It's was the first state visit by a Chinese President in ten years. Many overseas Chinese living in the UK say the visit has helped promote bilateral ties, and will benefit people in both countries.
Li Xuelin, Executive Vice Chairperson of Chinese General Chamber of Commerce said:"We are in the golden era now. Just as President Xi has said, China and the UK are going to build a global strategic partnership. We are at the right time. I believe that China can find many opportunities in the UK. The two sides will all benefit from this strong collaboration."
During President Xi's visit, a vast number of commercial, cultural, and educational deals were signed, signaling the start of that era. The deals are expected to inject fresh impetus for cooperation between the two nations.
Also, during Xi's visit, the British government announced a new visa policy to extend tourism visas for Chinese visitors to two years starting in 2016. That new policy is seen as an effort to further advocate relations.
"After the announcement of the two-year visa policy, it will be even more convenient for communication in business and education. A bilateral friendly relationship will have even brighter prospects, and we will enable a higher development platform," said Wu Lili, President of Hunan Association in UK.
In the social level, many overseas Chinese think that a stronger China and better China-UK relations also have impact on their daily life.
Lin Guang, Deputy Director of Conservative Friends of the Chinese said:"The most impressive thing I've felt is China's prosperity. There are big changes in terms of our international status as well as foreigners' views of overseas Chinese. They thought China was a backward society, but now they are feeling China's impact. And now we really feel of respect of others."
In five days, President Xi attented more than 30 events in the UK. That's pushing the relations between China and UK in the highest level. And there's no reason of not believing a "golden era" forward.
