BEIJING, Oct.24 (Xinhuanet) -- President Xi also attended a banquet given by the Manchester city government on Friday.
Xi Jinping delivered a speech at the banquet, during which he spoke about the mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation between China and the UK. The Chinese President said that Sino-British relations are at a historic high, and are facing new and important opportunities. China hopes Manchester can positively take the role of a navigator of Sino-British cooperation.
Prime Minister David Cameron reiterated that the UK is willing to be China's best partner among Western countries. Warren Smith, the Queen's representative in Greater Manchester, Prime Minister Cameron, and Manchester's Lord Mayor Paul Murphy warmly greeted President Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan.
