English.news.cn   2015-10-22 11:31:06

BEIJING, Oct. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- From ancient classics to modern sci-fi, Chinese literature is proving a hit in London. In this week of President Xi Jinping's state visit to the U.K., the London China Book Festival - launched Monday in London's oldest bookshop - is a timely tribute to this year of China-U.K. Cultural Exchange.

Along with Hatchards, the capital's oldest bookstore, the festival is taking place at 20 locations throughout London, including book retailer Waterstones, world-famous department store Harrods, and the British Museum.

Among the offerings are Chinese classics such as "A Dream of Red Mansions" and modern novels, including the award-winning sci-fi hit, "The Three-Body Problem" by Liu Cixin.

President Xi Jinping's 'The Governance of China' is one of 38 books dedicated to political or economic topics.

Guo Weimin, deputy head of China's State Council Information Office, noted at the opening ceremony that the festival came as part of cultural-exchange programs to celebrate President Xi's state visit to Britain.

Most of the books on offer are making their British debut at the festival, which runs to October the 28th.
