BEIJING, Oct. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- The United States has sent a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to participate in a South Korean military drill.
The joint exercise is currently being held in the waters off the port city of Busan and will last until next Friday. About 5,800 military personnel as well as dozens of military vehicles have been mobilized by South Korea for the event.
The United State's aircraft carrier, the USS Ronald Reagan, is scheduled to take part in a naval parade to mark the 70th anniversary of South Korea's liberation from Japanese rule and the founding of its navy. The vessels's stay coincides with the arrival of two US F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jets, bringing together two of the US's most powerful military assets.
