President Xi expected to visit Imperial College London

English.news.cn   2015-10-18 20:53:41

BEIJING, Oct. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Before the pomp and circumstances of Xi Jinping's official State Visit to the United Kingdom gets underway, the Chinese President is expected to stop by the campus of Imperial College London, home of several research and development projects that are bringing together academics from both countries. College dean Alice Gast sat down with CCTV, to discuss the future of educational cooperation between the two nations.

Alice Gast says she's excited about opportunities to bring together Chinese and British scholars, as a number of ongoing research projects hold the potential to help top minds from the two countries solve some of the world's most pressing problems.

Imperial College is also a pioneer in educational cooperation with the PRC, and the more than 2,000 Chinese scholars currently studying there comprise the institution's largest group of international students.

And an increase in the number of exchange programs between China and the UK is expected to boost education, science, and language learning on both sides while, most importantly, helping bolster the understanding of each other's cultures going forward.
