BEIJING, Oct.18 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a five-day state visit to the United Kingdom from Monday at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd. The Chinese Flag has been hung at London's Horse Guard's Parade, and a high-profile welcome reception will also be held at Buckingham Palace.
Candles, cutlery, and plenty of gold. Everything's in place at the ballroom of Buckingham Palace ready for the lavish State Banquet being laid on for the visiting Chinese President. And the Queen's Guard of Honor is also busy preparing for the big day.
"On the 20th of October, some of the finest regiments of the British Army will be on display," said Captain James Harbord, Hyde Park Baeeacks.
It will be a busy trip for both the Chinese President, and the British Royal Family.
President Xi will attend activities hosted by Queen Elizabeth the 2nd, jointing inspecting the Guard of Honor, and addressing Parliament at the Palace of Westminster. He will then meet with the Prince of Wales, and speak to the Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn.
On Wednesday, Xi Jinping will meet Prime Minister David Cameron and attend a China-UK business summit at Mansion House in the City of London.
The Duke of York and the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne will accompany the president on a visit to Imperial College London, and the satellite telecommunications company Inmarsat.
The final day of the trip will see the Chinese President travel to Manchester in England's north-west where he will visit the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester and the City Football Group’s headquarters.
