BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping will make his first state visit to the UK next week. It comes at the invitation of Queen Elizabeth the Second.
During the visit, the Queen will hold a welcoming ceremony for the president, and invite him for both an informal lunch and a formal dinner. Xi will also hold talks with Prime Minister David Cameron, and meet with prominent parliamentary members and leaders of opposition parties. He is scheduled to deliver an important speech in London, detailing China's domestic and foreign policies. Xi will also visit research projects and local businesses in Manchester, in England's north-west.
Cooperation on rail projects, nuclear energy and finance is expected. In the past five years, British exports to China have doubled, reaching some 23 billion US dollars. Chinese investment in the UK has also maintained a high momentum, with an annual growth rate of 85% in the past three years.
