English.news.cn   2015-10-11 11:36:01

BEIJING, Oct. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Kim Jong Un, the first secretary of the Worker's Party of Korea, has declared that his country is ready to fight what he calls 'any kind of war waged by the US imperialists.' The statement came during Kim Jong Un's speech at a grand military parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the ruling party.

Thousands of troops in tight formations marched past Pyongyang's Kim Il Sung Square, named after Kim Jong Un's grandfather, the founder of the nation. The parade also showcased military hardware including tanks, armored vehicles, rocket launchers and a variety of missiles.

A battery of intercontinental ballistic missiles was seen as the highlight. South Korea's Yonhap News reports that the military parade was the largest in DPRK history and the fifth since Kim Jong Un took power in 2011. 120 thousand people, including 100 thousand civilians, took part in the parade.
