BEIJING, Oct.10 (Xinhuanet) --Two teams of Chinese acrobats have received top awards in a world-class competition. The 15th China Wuqiao International Circus Festival also honored teams from the DPRK and Russia at a ceremony in Cangzhou City, in northern China's Hebei Province.
The Jiangsu Sheyang Circus team wowed the judges with an exquisite display of balance, while the Wuqiao Acrobatic Art School's performance with wheelbarrows offered both dazzle and delight.
"These boys have prepared three years for this performance. All of them are teenagers, with the youngest being only 12. And now the hard work finally paid off. We are very excited."
The DPRK's Pyongyang National Circus and Russia's Great State Classical Moscow Circus also took home top awards.
"It's a great honor to participate in this competition and learn from acrobats from around the world," said a Russian participant.
Five silver awards went to circuses from Mongolia, China, U.S. and France, and eight bronzes to troupes from the U.S., Canada, Germany, and Australia.
The festival brought participants from more than 20 countries, and hosted more than 200 acts.
Known as the "oriental acrobatic arena", the China Wuqiao International Acrobatics Art Festival debuted in 1987 and has been held every other year since. It's considered one of the top-three acrobatic competitions in the world.
